Queens of the Stone Age ‘Embrace Evil’ for Album
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Upcoming Releases, Blues, Rock,
Queens of the Stone Age "embraced" their "evil" on their new album. The band sent a cryptic handwritten note to the UK's Kerrang! magazine in which they talk about the conditions surrounding the making of their sixth studio album.
"Some things you can't fix so... On this record we came to a realization: the best trick of all, is no trick at all. The songs are a real time document of the manic ups and downs of the last year. It can't always run like clockwork. So rather than control the direction of the recordings, we decided to ride shotgun on our emotional bandwagon. We embraced our evil, held the horrible, licked the lunacy and blew the beautiful. As a result, we're on cloud 9. I can't write anymore cause my phone's dying, Queens of the Stone Age," the message read.

Lady Gaga Postpones Shows Due to Injury
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours, Pop,
UPDATE: Lady Gaga has cancelled the remaining concerts for her tour due to her need to undergo surgery.
Lady Gaga has been battling chronic pain from a severe injury while on tour. The "Bad Romance" singer has postponed a number of her upcoming concerts because she can barely walk after hurting herself more than a month ago and is suffering from synovitis, which is severe inflammation of the joints.
The 26-year-old star revealed she was forced to cancel a number of her shows on her Facebook page on Tuesday, saying, "I barely know what to say. I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for some time now, [and] over the past month it has worsened. I've been praying it would heal. I hid it from my staff. I didn't want to disappoint my amazing fans. However, after last night's performance I could not walk and still can't."
The pop star was forced to postpone two concerts in Chicago, one in Detroit and one in Hamilton, Ontario. "I hope you can forgive me, as it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself. I'm devastated & sad. It will hopefully heal as soon as possible. I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and I'm sorry," she said.
Justin Timberlake’s Movie-Like Album

Justin Timberlake's movie career helped make his music more visual.
The "Suit & Tie" singer - who returned to music after a six year hiatus while he tried his hand at acting - feels his experience on film sets has taught him how to create a more vivid picture with the songs on his new album.
"You spend so much time developing a character when you do a film. So much of your work is done before you get set to shoot because you've been working on the character: the way he walks, the way he talks, what might upset him, what might make him happy. Now I can really paint a picture for people 'cause being involved in the film process, you get to see the writing change, you get to see the direction change, you get to see all those things change. You go, 'You can really do this with music, too.' You can play a character but you can also write the world that you want your character to live in and then what does that world sound like? Are there more strings in that world? Are there more horns in that world? Is there more percussion in that world?" he told Rolling Stone.

Johnny Marr lives "in pursuit" of a songwriting relationship like the one he had with Morrissey.
The guitarist was a key member of 80s indie band The Smiths with Morrissey, and although they parted ways in 1987, he would still like to find another person who can write songs like him. Talking about Morrissey he said, "It was pretty apparent that he wasn't a blank canvas in terms of his ideas about being a singer. He was good to go and knew what he was about and where he wanted to go. It definitely felt like two equals. [In The Smiths] we were falling over ourselves with ideas that we were constantly amassing, and that's the greatest thing in the world. It's still what I'm trying to live my life in pursuit of, really. To find your opposite number who is up to speed was pretty remarkable."
Johnny also hopes The Smiths' lost demos for their first album, known as the Troy Tate Sessions, are eventually released.

Big Boi is planning to reunite Outkast in 2014. The rapper has been speaking with bandmate Andre 3000 about getting back together to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik - released in 1994.
In an interview with Power 106 radio in Los Angeles, he explained, "We been kind of discussing some things. Once we map it out, we'll make an announcement. But we'll see."
Although he'd love to celebrate the band's 20-year milestone, Big Boi is content with the group's success so far even if they don't move forward. "It's 20 years, man. We started out at 15, 16 years old. We made our first album when we were 17 years old. Twenty-five million records later, seven Grammys, I feel great," he explained.
The "Hey Ya" hitmakers released six albums in the span of 12 years. Their last record, 2006's Idlewild, reached number two on the US Billboard album charts and was certified platinum.

Daft Punk have signed a new record deal. The French dance duo - Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo - are rumored to be releasing their first album in eight years in May after inking a deal with Columbia Records.
The "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" hitmakers returned to the studio last year to begin work on a fourth studio album - a follow-up to 2005's Human After All - with disco producer Nile Rodgers.
Speaking about the sessions, Nile said, "All I can say is those guys are geniuses and to think that after all these years we've been trying to get together, they just show up at my apartment in New York City and the vibe between us is so powerful and so strong - it's unbelievable. Spiritually and artistically working with them was as good as anything I've ever done. It's as great as being in a studio with [David] Bowie, it's great as being with Bernard Edwards, and it's as great as the best stuff I've ever done with Duran [Duran] or Madonna."
